BLACK CAT EAVESDROPS ...

Published 7th January 2019

I was recently having a kip under a meeting room table (as cats do) when a load of labour councillors poured in. Now last time they spotted me they kicked me out, so I thought I'd lie low until they'd gone. Weird things, those humans, though. They seemed to be voting about who should be their leader (don't know why they just don't just have a brawl in the alley like us cats do).

They wheeled in a lady they referred to as Jean something or other; now poor Jean plainly did not know where she was and certainly did not recognise anyone as she was frequently heard to ask “who is that?” about her fellow councillors.

The time to vote came and she was wheeled up to sit next to Cllr Marjorie James, who then told her how to mark her ballot paper.  Now that doesn't seem a very kind thing to do - shows just how thoughtful some of those there were in putting someone who is obviously not well through such an ordeal. Black Cat would like to wish Jean all the best, and hopes that for just once in their lives the men and women who call themselves councillors show compassion to a lady who's tried in the past to do her best for the community.
